ID Card Printer Ribbons – Things to know…
ID Card Printer Ribbon is also know in the industry as ID Card Printer Dye Film. The printer ribbon is available in full colour rolls to single colour including colours such as Black, White , Red, Green, Blue, Gold, Silver and many more.
The term Dye Sublimation is also referred to as a Dye Diffusion. When the Dye on the ribbon is heated by the print head it is transformed from a solid to a gas and diffused onto the plastic card which is specially coated to absorb the colour dye. At 300dpi the picture quality and continuous colour tones produced by a an ID Card printer outperforms most laser or ink jet printers with higher resolutions.
ID Card Printer Ribbons have four panels of colour and a clear overlay to protect from UV light and mild scratching of the card. There is also printer ribbon available that has an extra black panel added for double sided printing when you only want to print colour on one side and black text on the back of the card. This stops unwanted wastage of unused colour panels.
